Introducing e-Tanzz: The Document You Actually Understand Before You Sign

Tsukuba Tech was founded in May 2024 in Tsukuba, Japan. 28 months later, we shipped our first SaaS product.

The problem

Most people sign documents they never fully read.

I don't mean people are lazy. I mean the documents are designed to hide things.

14 pages of legal terms, an amount buried on page 3, a deadline somewhere, a notice period that determines when you're actually free to leave. You skim, you get tired, you scroll to the bottom and sign anyway. I've done it. You've done it. We all have.

Building a document-signing product meant reading hundreds of contracts. The same traps showed up in almost every one:

• The auto-renewal. Sits quiet for 11 months, then charges you for a year you didn't want. Your cancellation window? It closed 60 days before you even remembered the contract existed.

• The real amount. The price on page 1 is rarely the full price. Fees, taxes, penalties — every currency symbol in the document costs you something different.

• The notice period. 30, 60, 90 days? If you don't know yours, you don't actually know when you're free.

• The cancellation terms. Walking away has a price — a penalty, a deposit, sometimes nothing. It's written down. Most people never read that page until they need it.

• The deadline. Payment dates, delivery dates, expiry. Every contract has a clock in it. Miss one and the rest of the document can turn against you.

None of this requires a lawyer to understand. It requires 10 minutes and knowing where to look.

The solution

e-Tanzz does the looking for you. Before you sign.

It reads the document — not the way a person reads (slowly, carefully, fighting sleep), but the way an AI reads: every page, every clause, pulling out what actually decides things.

It explains what it found in plain language. The amount. The deadline. The auto-renewal clause on page 9. The notice period that determines when you can leave.

It answers your questions about what's inside. Before you sign.

Then you sign it, digitally, in the same place — one e-signature and AI contract review workflow instead of two separate tools.

Why this matters

Here's the part that matters more than the product: e-Tanzz doesn't sign for you.

Some automation should happen without a human touching it — payroll processing, email scheduling, invoice management. Let the robots run. Nobody's liability changes.

But a contract commits your money. It commits your time. It commits your liability for what's on page 8 that you never saw. If an AI signs it for you, you've outsourced your decision to something that can't be held accountable when things break.

So the AI reads. You sign. The separation is deliberate.

The AI's job is to make sure you understand. Your job is to actually commit.

How we got here

Tsukuba Tech started with websites. We built sites for clients, learned what they actually needed, and started building the systems underneath the sites. Websites became dashboards. Dashboards became business systems. Business systems needed automation.

That's how Tanzz AI got built — not as a chatbot wrapper, but as an infrastructure layer: retrieval, memory, agents, a gateway that routes different jobs to different models. The same layer that powers our client work.

e-Tanzz is the first product built on that infrastructure. It won't be the last.

What's next

We launched on September 14, 2026, from Tsukuba, Japan. The first week brought people who had the same question I did: why did I sign something I didn't understand?

Zero signups on day 4 doesn't bother me. Early users are the ones asking hard questions, and hard questions build better products. Someone called e-Tanzz "a GenAI wrapper," and they weren't wrong — the models aren't ours. But what we built around them is. And what we'll build from here is.

The moat doesn't ship in v1. It gets built by obsessing over one problem for longer than anyone else thinks it matters. We live in Japan, we speak Japanese and English, and we actually use e-Tanzz for our own client work at Tsukuba Tech. DocuSign doesn't do any of that.
